Accusonic - Transducers

TRANSDUCER OVERVIEW

Below are descriptions of some of Accusonic’s line of transducers. The descriptions are intended to give an idea of which type of transducer may be best suited for a particular installation. To select a transducer type for a specific application, please complete the Application Information Form and forward it to us at sales@accusonic.com or fax it to +1-508-273-9699 for our recommendations. In addition to the transducers listed below, many specialized transducer designs are available. Detailed specification sheets for each transducer type are also available.

Pipelines

Model 7601/7641 Fully Removable Transducer Assembly with Jacking Mechanism

The Model 7601/7641 is a type 316 stainless steel transducer and feedthrough combination designed for low to medium pressure indoor or outdoor applications. The unit is designed to allow removal of the entire transducer (including the face) for repair, replacement, or cleaning without dewatering the pipe.

Model 7600/7660 Full Removable-Feedthrough

These feedthrough-type transducers are used for exposed pipelines. The transducers are completely removable without dewatering the pipe. The transducers are stainless steel or PVC and are used with Model 7660 or 7641 stainless feedthrough assemblies. The 7600 is rated to 1000 or 1500 psi; the 7601 is rated to 450 psi. No welding is required for feedthrough installation.

Model 7605/7625 Fixed-Window-Feedthrough

These window-type feedthrough transducers are used for exposed pipelines. The transducer element is removable for servicing from outside the pipe, though the window is permanently fixed. The stainless 7605 is rated to 1000 psi; the Delrin® 7625 is rated to 500 psi. No welding is required for installation.

Model 7657/7658 Intrinsically Safe Transducer

These transducers are approved as intrinsically safe for use in hazardous area locations and are ideal for sewer lines presenting a low profile when used with the rugged 7697/7698 housings. The 7657/7658 transducers are also well suited for non-hazardous locations where low profile mounts are desirable.

Model 7630/7634 Internal Mount Transducer

The Model 7630/7634 are internal mount transducer assemblies designed for installation in buried or encased pipes. The cable from the transducer is brought through conduit to a penetration assembly which can be located in a small area of exposed pipe. With Model 7630/7634 transducers, each assembly incorporates two transducer elements, two connectors and two cables, thereby providing complete redundancy for hard-to-access locations. Transducer mounts can be bolted or welded to pipe walls, making these transducers suitable for steel or concrete pipes.

Model 7600/7601 Cold-Tap Transducer

When the pipe can be dewatered for installation but access to the inside is not available, 7600 and 7601 transducers are used with 7664 or 7662 weld-on feedthrough assemblies. The 7600 and 7601 transducers are fully removable after installation.

Model 7601P Hot-Tap Transducer

When the pipe cannot be dewatered, 7600 and 7601 transducers are used with weld-on Hot-Tap feedthrough assemblies. A permanent valve assembly allows complete installation, drilling holes and transducer insertion without dewatering.

Model 7622 Small Pipe Transducer

In small pipes it may be necessary to recess the transducer. The 7622 transducers are installed in a spool piece section fabricated with access fittings. The 7622 transducers are usually used in pipes less than 24 inches (600mm) in diameter.

Hazardous/Areas/Sewers/ CSOs

Model 7657/7658 Intrinsically Safe Transducer

These transducers are certified as intrinsically safe for use in hazardous area locations and are ideal for use in sewer lines presenting a low profile when used with the rugged 7697/7698 housings. The 7657/7658 transducers are also well suited for non-hazardous locations where low profile mounts are desirable.

Model 7656 Feedthrough Transducer

These transducers can be inserted through 7655 feedthrough assemblies for installation in pipes with concrete or steel walls. The Model 7656 transducers are certified as explosion proof for use in pipes or channels in hazardous area locations. Model 7656 transducers are typically used in pipes or channels larger than 3 ft. (1m) in diameter or wide.

Channels/Rectangular Conduits

Model 7616 Surface Mount Transducer
Model 7656/7655 Surface Mount Transducer
Model 7657/7658 Surface Mount Transducer

These transducers are used in rectangular and trapezoidal channels. They are usually mounted in prefabricated arrays or on sliding plates secured to the channel wall.

Model 7618 Fully Adjustable Transducer

The 7618 transducers are used in vertical wall channels or intakes such as those found at low head hydro plants. The transducer element rests like an eyeball within the impact-resistant 7696 mount. The eyeball design allows easy alignment of the transducer regardless of wall shape. The 7618’s are usually mounted in arrays with integral conduit protection.

Rivers

Model 7612 Long Path Length Transducer

The 7612 transducer is used in large channels and rivers. Its 200kHz frequency is well suited for path lengths up to 500 feet (150 meters).

Sleeve and Plate Arrays

Sleeve and Plate Arrays

Many of Accusonic’s transducers are pre-mounted on permanent or sliding plates. These configurations reduce installation time and expense. The sliding plate arrays are useful for vertical wall or trapezoidal channels as they allow easy servicing without dewatering or entering the channel. Sleeve inserts are used in smaller collection system lines where installation time in the sewer must be kept to a minimum.
